The Settlement Problem Liaison (SPL) is responsible for the prompt resolution of all problems which may arise related to account settlements previously negotiated by a Settlement Negotiator. The SPL is responsible for processing collection documents received on previously settled accounts, formulating plans for resolving problem accounts, contacting creditors to investigate and resolve the problems, and communicating the solutions to FDR’s clients.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Formulate and execute a workable resolution strategy for all problem accounts.
- Review client files to determine why the account has become a problem.
- Obtain all documents needed to resolve problem, i.e., check copies, settlement letters.
- Track status of each problem account currently being worked.
- Communicate with co-workers and superiors as needed for guidance.
- Other projects as they arise.
- Review and process documents and co-worker requests related to problem accounts.
- Receive and respond to e-mails from co-workers.
- Receive and review collection notices.
- Receive and review legal documents, i.e., summonses.
- Determine if the account in question was settled.
- Verify that all payments due to creditor were timely made by FDR or by client.
- Communicate with creditors regarding problem accounts.
- Inbound and outbound telephone calls.
- E-mail (inbound and outbound).
- Receive and send facsimile documents.
- Draft written correspondence to fax, mail, and e-mail.
- Maintain professional demeanor in all communications.
- Communicate with FDR clients regarding problem accounts.
- Inbound and outbound telephone calls.

- Provide clients with regular updates of account status during negotiations.
- Maintain professional demeanor in all communications.
